Schoefs

Franck Schoefs is a former student of ENS Cachan School and was graduated in 1992. He obtained a M.Sc. in Coastal and Offshore Civil Engineering at the Ecole Centrale de Nantes and a PhD in Civil Engineering (Reliability of Offshore structures) in 1996 at Ifremer/Université de Nantes.

He joined Université de Nantes in 1998 as assistant professor and was responsible to launch the topic of Structural Reliability Assessment in this University. In 2007, he obtained the Accreditation to supervise research (HDR) and was nominated in 2010 Professor of Université de Nantes.

Since 2010, he is at the Head of the TRUST Group (Monitoring, Reliability and Structural Computation at GeM Laboratory) with 40 people: he initiated a group devoted to Structural Health Monitoring in complex (marine) environment.

He is CEO of the ‘Sea and Littoral Research Institute’ (650 researchers) since 2017, Marine Renewable Energy advisor to President of Université de Nantes since 2014 and member of the board of West Atlantic Marine Energy Community (WEAMEC) since its foundation in 2015. He is Member of the Scientific Committee of the network of French Marine Universities (16 Universities).

He was involved in various European (6) and national research projects (10). He is a reviewer for more than 40 journals and experts for 5 international research agencies. He supervised or co-supervised 30 PhD’s and is author of more than 60 international journal papers.
