Scattering of light beams

When an electromagnetic wave is launched into an optical fiber, its propagation through the medium interacts with the constituent atoms and molecules generating a secondary electromagnetic wave called light scattering. Three different scattering phenomenon may occur, namely: Raman, Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering.
