Gravity Based Foundation (GBF)

Gravity Based Foundations are massive structures that depend on its own weight or dead load to achieve sufficient stability against overturning and sliding. They are usually made of concrete and can be reinforced with steel to avoid tensile loads. Concrete GBFs have been widely used for both oil and gas industry and offshore wind farm development. Next to monopiles, GBF is the second most common foundation for offshore wind turbines.
