Wind turbine
A wind turbine is a structure that generates electricity from the wind's kinetic energy. It can be generally classified as a Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) or a Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT), the latter being more common in wind energy industry. The main components of a land-based wind turbine are the tower, rotor blades and a nacelle, which houses electrical and mechanical components. When a wind turbine is developed offshore, and a foundation is necessary to resist wave loads and support the tower and rotor-nacelle assembly.
