Jacob

Bernard Jacob is graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He is a bridge and road engineer.
He is Deputy Scientific Director (International and professional affairs) at Université Gustave Eiffel (ex-Ifsttar) and co-leader of the Infrastructure research axis. He has a 30-year experience on bridge durability, fatigue and safety, on traffic loads on infrastructures, on heavy vehicle technology, safety and operation, including electric roads for heavy traffic, weigh-in-motion and applications, trucks/infrastructure interaction, and freight transport. He is an international expert in Weigh-In-Motion and on heavy vehicles (weights and dimensions, interaction with infrastructures, safety, platooning). He is member of two TRB standing committees: AB055 on Heavy vehicle weights and dimensions and ABJ35 on Traffic Monitoring and WIM.
He is the current French secretary of the PIARC technical committee B4 on freight transport. He is the past president of the International Society for WIM, and now the vice-president Science.
