Calibration of safety factors
In semi-probabilistic methods, the fatigue reliability is verified using characteristic values and safety factors. These safety factors for fatigue are so-called Design Fatigue Factors (DFF). Reliability-based calibration of the values of the DFFs can be performed using reliability methods with uncertainties modelled by probabilistic techniques. The calibration is performed such that a required reliability level is obtained for a class of structures considered.
